Jumi Gogoi
PhD Student
Jumi is a PhD student in the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) working under the supervision of Dr. Navin Ramankutty. She is pursuing her research interests in mobilizing methods from data science to answer questions about food security and climate change. Her PhD at UBC specifically focuses on developing machine learning models to investigate which farm management practices lead to climate resilient yield in the Canadian prairies.
Prior to her PhD, Jumi had an interdisciplinary academic background and has completed studies in Analytics (MS, University of Dallas), Economics (MSc, University of Bath) and Business (Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi). Her exposure to various fields of study combined with an active interest in the evolving field of data sciences and global food security culminated into her current research area.
