Distribution of smallholders in Africa

In partnership with the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we produced a map of the distribution of smallholder farms in Africa. This map is intended as a base layer for a Digital Atlas of Agricultural Adaptation.

We compiled data on farm size distribution obtained from household surveys, at the smallest subnational unit available. We found such data for 35 countries in Africa.
